What Vision is Treatable

In a normal eye, the cornea and the lens of the eye focus light to form an image on the back surface of the eye, known as the retina.  Farsightedness (hyperopia), nearsightedness (myopia), and astigmatism are all treatable with IntraLASIK.

In Nearsightedness, the cornea focuses or refracts light too much, causing images of distant objects to form in front of the retina and appear blurry. As a result, nearsighted people usually have blurred vision for distant objects.

Farsightedness results when the image comes into focus behind the retina and thereby causes the person to have poor vision for near tasks. For those over 40, farsightedness also affects distance vision.

Astigmatism is the result of an irregular curvature of the cornea, often resulting in blurred vision for both distant and near objects.
