Can a pregnant or nursing woman have surgery?

Although it is not advisable for a pregnant or lactating woman to have PRK, IntraLASIK and LASIK seem to be well tolerated.  Still it is advisable for a woman in her first trimester to wait to have the procedure, as the post-surgical eye drops could be absorbed systemically (in the body). Also, vision fluctuation is common during pregnancy, and should be stable before initiating surgery.
